Start with the product category

A sheet set is mostly textile. A waterproof protector is a multi-material product. That means the same “organic cotton” phrase can describe very different constructions.

Look for verifiable certification

GOTS is one widely used standard for organic textiles. Read the label or product documentation rather than assuming every “organic” marketing phrase is equivalent.
